Towns of Mallorca - Porto Colom, Felanitx

Porto Colom Felanitx - A small, pleasant resort in the Felanitx district, on the south-eastern coast of Mallorca, in the Spanish Balearic Islands, Porto Colom is largely unspoilt and well worth a visit if you are in the area. The old part of town still has charming old fishermen's houses and the ancient church of Sant Jaume I, the harbour is also attractive and a pleasant place to while away a hour or two.

The main beach is at Cala Marcal, it is sandy and gently sloping, making it ideal for families with children, it holds 'blue Flag' status for cleanliness and safety. There are a couple of other good beaches nearby at Cala D'Or and Cala Figuera, both worth a visit.

Porto Colom has a decent selection of shops, bars and restaurants, laces to visit nearby include the lighthouse, Felanitx and Sineu. Porto Colom is claimed by locals to be the birthplace of Christopher Columbus (hence the name), though this is highly unlikely.
