Noted for its large resort hotel, the Sol Calas de Mallorca Resort, it is a more laid back resort which is ideal for family holidays and not ideal for those seeking a vibrant nightlife scene (they should head for Magaluf).
Calas de Mallorca has a decent selection of shops, bars and restaurants, with a concentration of amenities to be found at the Centro Commercial. The nearest street market is held at the town of Felanitx on Sundays, and is well worth a visit. You could also head for the municipal capital, Manacor which holds its weekly market on a Monday. For the very best shopping, head for the island's capital Palma de Mallorca.
