Puig de Randa Mallorca - Rising from the flat plains south of Algaida, Puig de Randa is where the Mallorcan sage Ramón Llull founded his monastery during the 13th century. Built into steep cliffs on the way to the top are other monasteries including the Senyora de Gràcia, the Santuari de Sant Honorat and the Santuari de Nostra Senyora de Cura.

An important site for Catholic pilgrimmages, the original monastery was built to train missionaries bound for Asia and Africa. One of Mallorca's most famous sons, Ramón Llull (1232-1315) was a nobleman, turned religious scholar who wrote namy important works and travelled the world.
