Guide to Street Markets on the Costa Blanca and Costa Calida Spain
Costa Blanca Markets - A trip to the local market is just one of the enjoyable things to do whilst visiting Spain and the Costa Blanca, the vibrant atmosphere, the banter (in various languages) and the wide selection of goods available all help to make this a charming and exciting experience.
Whichever area of the Costa Blanca (or Costa Calida) you are visiting, there will always be a local market nearby, and there are markets somewhere in the region on every day of the week.
At the market you will find plenty of fresh, locally grown produce at a fraction of the cost of your favourite supermarket, you will also find a wide variety of clothes, shoes, bags, leather goods and gifts.
A brief word of warning though - the market is the favourite haunt of pickpockets (who love crowds), so keep a close eye on wallets, purses and handbags. Also watch out for scams like the pea under the cup - it is amazing how many people get caught out by these tricksters - YOU WILL NEVER WIN - they work as a team and the winners are always members of the team, so stay away.
Most of the markets open early in the morning and close arouns siesta time 2.00pm.
