Torre Pacheco: The small Costa Calida town and municipality of Torre Pacheco has a population of around 27,000 (2005) and lies a little inland from the coastal resort of Los Alcázares and the Mar Menor in the province of Murcia.

Throughout the centuries Torre Pacheco has mostly relied on agriculture for its economic survival but is also important for services and light industry. Property development and tourisn is now emerging as an important source of income for the town and the new development of La Torre Golf Resort is creating great interest in the area.

The municipality of Torre Pacheco was inaugurated in 1813 and the City Council was founded in 1836 though it is thought that there were settlements there as far back as Roman times, further settlements during the Moorish occupation were depopulated after the Christian re-conquest. The parish church was begun in 1603 and the tower in 1704.
