A sprawling industrial city with a population of almost 300,000, Vigo is also a significant fishing port, the largest in Spain and one of the biggest in Europe. Vigo is located on the beautiful Ria de Vigo, which is spanned by a high suspension bridge. Vigo has its own airport which is located to the east of the city centre, the border with Portugal is about 20 kilometres away.
Vigo can be accessed from the AP-9 (E-1) motorway, by train from Pontevedra, or by air or sea.
