Places to Visit in Gran Canaria - Moya

Moya Map - Zoomable street map of Moya a pretty town inland from the northern coast of Gran Canaria, in the Spanish Canary Islands.

Using the buttons on the top left of the map you can 'zoom' and 'pan' to get a detailed street map of Moya and plan your visit to the town. It is also possible to view the neighbouring villages of Firgas, Arucas, Teror, Carreteria and Lomo de Vergera.

Well away from Gran Canaria's major tourist attractions, the pretty little town of Moya is dominated by its huge church the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria with its two towers, which sits precariously on the edge of a deep ravine (the Barranco de Moya). Inside the church you can see a 15th century wooden carving of the Virgen de la Candelaria. The town is an ideal place to spend a few hours when the weather is not so hot.

Worth a visit in Moya is the Casa Museo Tomás Morales, which was the birthplace of the well known Canarian poet and doctor, Tomás Morales (1884-1921), and now a museum dedicated to his life, which displays numerous original manuscripts, photographs and examples of his work. Moya is well known for its delicious sponge cakes, called "bizcochas lustrados".

Moya can be reached by way of the GC-700 / GC-70 from Santa Maria de Guia de Gran Canaria.
