Located in the Alicante province of the Communidad de Valencia, Benejuzar is one of the many villages of the Vega Baja (Low Fertile Valley) region.
Having a population of around 5,000 (2005) and an area of 9.2km2, Benejuzar relies mostly on agriculture for its economic survival.
The history of Benejuzar goes back to the Moorish occupation of the region as does the history of many of its neighbouring towns and villages.
The Moors occupied the area from the 8th to the 13th Centuries before being defeated by the Christian king Jaime I of Aragon.
Worth visiting in Benejuzar is the Catholic Church of the Virgen del Rosario built during the 17th Century.
Benejuzar is located on the CV-920 between Algorfa and Jacarilla.
