Vera Playa Almeria - Getting its name from the inland town of Vera, the resort of Vera Playa is situated on the Costa Almeria coastline of Andalucia in south-eastern Spain.
The resort and beach are officially designated as a naturist resort, the second largest in Europe (the largest is in France), and many residential urbanizations have been built within the naturist resort, these are served by a growing choice of shops, bars and restaurants and an increasing range of facilities.
The beach in Vera Playa is comprised of course sand (with some pebbles), and stretches for some 4 kilometres or more, the naturist section of the beach takes up about 2 kilometres of this.
Among the facilities in Vera Playa are a 4 Star hotel (The Vera Playa Club Hotel), with 270 rooms, and a large outside swimming pool, a camping and caravan site, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
Worth visiting around Vera Playa is the old fishing village of Garrucha (be sure to try out the local fish restaurants), Mojacar, a white hilltop village (pueblo blanco) with a long and distinguished history, and the town of Vera itself (where the street market is on Saturdays).
Vera Playa Beaches: The main beach of Vera Playa stretches for 4 km, around 2 km dedicated to naturists, other beaches in the area include Villaricos, Palomares and Cala Verde.
Vera Playa Hotels: The main hotel for Vera Playa is the Vera Playa Club Hotel, which has 270 rooms.
Vera Playa Fiestas: Fiestas that you can attend in the areas around Vera Playa include the Fiesta de St Cleophas in Vera (September), Fiesta de San Juan in Garrucha (June), the Garrucha Festival in August and the Fishermens Festival (Virgen del Carmen) in July also in Garrucha.
Vera Playa Markets: Vera has a street market on Saturdays, Garrucha on Fridays and Mojacar Pueblo on Wednesdays.
Vera Playa Golf: Golfing enthusiasts will find plenty of facilities around the Vera Playa area including the Marina de la Torre Golf, Valle de Este Golf Resort and the Desert Springs Golf Resort at Cuevas de Almanzora.
Vera Playa Camping: Vera Playa has its own dedicated naturist camping and caravan site - Camping Almanzora (Tel: 0034 950 467 474).
Vera Playa can be reached via the Al-7107 from the A-1200, it is situated north of Mojacar and Garrucha and close to Puerto del Rey. Vera Playa is about 75 kilometres from Almeria airport.
