Costa Dorada Resorts - Sitges

Sitges Spain - A small city situated on the coast to the south of Barcelona, Sitges is one of the highlights of this stretch of the Costa Dorada coastline. With a population of 25,642 (2006) and a municipal area of 43.85 square kilometres, Sitges has an important artistic and cultural heritage and developed as something of an art centre after the well known Catalan Modernista artist Santiago Rusiñol spent his summers there.

The main landmark of Sitges (see picture above) is the parish church - Església de Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla, which stands in an elevated position on the seafront. The old part of the town rises gradually inland from the church.
