Granada is an ancient city, famous for its Alhambra Palace, it is situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains and has a population of about 237,000. The history of Granada goes back to an Ibero-Celtic settlement and was later settled by Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Greeks, the Greeks were well established by the 5th century BC and they were followed by the Romans who called the city Illiberis.

After the arrival of the Moors in 711, Granada became the longest held Moorish city in Spain, finally falling to the Christian forces of Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492. Granada is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Spain and has many important Moorish and Catholic architectural sites.
