Costa Dorada Map - Zoomable road map of the Costa Dorada region of eastern Spain. The Costa Dorada has some excellent resorts and has a good selection of hotels and holiday rental accommodation, there are also some beautiful unspoilt beaches.

The Costa Dorada ("Gold Coast") comprises about 216 kilometres of coastline and hinterland extending from Barcelona in the north to Cambrils in the south, comprising numerous golden, sandy beaches and a number of fine resorts. The regional centre for the area is the ancient city of Tarragona (population 130,000), the site of Phoenician and Roman settlements over 2,000 years ago. The best known of the Costa Dorada's resorts is Salou, a popular family holiday destination with miles of gently shelving, safe, sandy beaches and a great range of facilities.
Although appearing as a modern resort Salou was also settled by the Romans and at that time known as Salauris and a significant port. Other major holiday resorts on the coast are Cambrils and La Pineda both having wonderful sandy beaches, Cambrils being renowned for its seafood restaurants and La Pineda for its water park (aquopolis) and its Port Aventura theme park. In the extreme south close to the border with Valencia, is the town of Alcanar.
To the north of the Costa Dorada is the Costa Maresme and the Costa Brava, to the south is the Costa del Azahar.
